While preparing my baby registry, I was surprised to discover that some cribs can emit harmful chemicals. This led me to research crib safety more thoroughly, and I found that many cribs may contain substances like flame retardants, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), and lead. This underscored the importance of choosing a non-toxic crib that prioritizes safety and health. Certified organic cribs are specifically designed to be free from these harmful chemicals, ensuring a safer sleeping environment for infants.
Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) All cribs sold in the United States must meet CPSC regulations, which focus on structural safety. |
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Cribs must be certified by ASTM to ensure that the wood finish, glue, and composites are free of harmful chemicals. |
Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association (JPMA) Cribs that are JPMA certified meet the highest safety requirements and all federal and state laws. |
Greenguard Gold Certification Cribs with this certification have been tested for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Cribs with this certification are tested for over 10,000 chemicals. |
We all desire a nursery to be a nurturing and loving environment for our babies to thrive. After conducting thorough research, we zeroed in on the highest-rated cribs and specifically chose those that are Greenguard Gold/ASTM/JPMA certified.

The Sniglar is one of the cheapest and lightest cribs around, but it is not Greengaurd Gold certified. So, while technically not portable, it is fairly easy to move this crib to vacuum or even from room to room if you need to.
Although I can’t guarantee they’ll sleep soundly through the night, I can assure you that these cribs are free from harsh chemicals and won’t emit harmful fumes into your baby’s space.
